Community Funding Project for Title 1 Students

The Situation

Vectis DC’s first project with the City of Commerce was to secure Congressional funding for a much-needed homework center for Title 1 students at the City’s main library.

The Strategy

Vectis worked with then-Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard — at the time one of the 12 “Cardinals” chairing an Appropriations Subcommittee — to submit the project as one of her ten Community Funding Projects for FY 2022.

The Result

Alongside Congresswoman Roybal-Allard’s staff, Vectis DC helped shepherd the line item through the House Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee, full Committee markups, passage in the House of Representatives, and ultimately into the omnibus budget bill that was enacted later that year.
