Raising the DoD Cap for Aerospace
The Situation
The Aerospace Corporation identified an arcane provision in Congressional appropriations legislation, which capped their annual staffing level contracts with the Department of Defense.
Vectis DC was tasked with creating and executing a lobbying strategy to have staffing levels increased annually.
The Strategy
Devised a bipartisan and bicameral strategy to educate key members of Congress on this issue.
Submitted programmatic language to approximately a dozen key members each appropriations cycle on behalf of the client.
Conducted a series of meetings with national security advisors and professional staff members to key committees.
Arranged meetings with the company’s CEO and Senators/House members to reinforce the issue.
The Result
The amount of staff funding increased by 5.25% — the first increase in over a decade. This percentage amounts to approximately $121 million annually, with almost half allocated to our client.
